Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct new employee orientations, ensuring a thorough understanding of organization policies, benefits, and procedures. As well as, benefits, development opportunities, and resources accessible to them as a Center employee
- Perform pre-hire background checks as required by DHS, and MVRs for relevant staff members, and complete post-hire I-9 verification to ensure compliance with federal requirements
- Maintain accurate personnel records and file organization of employees, students, guests, and temporary staff
- Process FMLA and LOA requests, maintaining accurate records and communication with employees and managers
- Contact supervisors on employee file needs of their staff. Including but not limited to; job description updates, change forms, supervisor changes, required testing, etc
- Assist in the development of and implementation of HR initiatives and programs to enhance employee engagement and retention
- Handle employee inquiries regarding HR matters in a timely and professional manner. Direct employees to proper communication channels as appropriate
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations of HR practices
- Collaborate with other departments to facilitate a smooth onboarding and integration process for new hires
- Maintain monthly staff directory to be sent to all staff each month with changes as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist in the preparation and submit required reports to agencies as needed
- Assist in internal and external audits related to Human Resources
- Assist in the preparation of reports for HR metrics
- Ensure posting across the Center has accurate and up-to-date required postings, such as EEOC, FLSA, notices, and information regarding employees' rights, safety, etc
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Must have four years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist role or higher or,
- an associate's degree in HR, Business, Administration, and two years of HR Generalist experience
- Must have experience administering new hire orientation and presenting complex information
- Must be able to operate multiple different types of software, such as excel, word, pdf, HRIS, and LMS systems
- Must have experience managing different points of data storage and collection
- Must pass background studies issued by Minnesota Department of Human Services
- SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus
- Prior experience managing the full cycle of employee leave requests
- Prior experience working in an organization who is monitored by the Department of Human Services
