About the Position
- POSITION : Human Resources Generalist
- EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours / pay period)

Overview :
Serves as a business partner to leadership advising on HR issues including but not limited to employee / labor relations, compensation, recruitment and selection, and policy interpretation. Advises company managers about Human Resources issues.
Job Duties :
In partnership with hiring managers, leads the recruitment and selection process for open positions, including internal transfers.Provides guidance and recommendations for compensation decisions including new hires, promotions, and merit increases. Assists with the monitoring of the company wage and salary structure and the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises.Provides competitive market research and prepares studies to help establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.Develops and implements plans and programs to recruit and retain qualified staff.Participates in recruiting fairs, activities, and career pathway committees.Assists in the on-boarding of health profession students and internsDevelop and maintain position descriptions for all open positions.Coordinate communication with outside recruiting firms.Operate within a set budget for use of outside firms.
Determine which firms to use based on effectiveness.Establish parameters and minimum expectations for outside firms.Serve as the organizations point of contact for recruiting firms and other agencies.Contact and screen potential candidates for employment.Serve as the first point of contact for potential candidates.
Make calls to candidates to provide background information regarding the area, organization, and position.Follow up with candidates post visit.Provides union contract and GICH policy interpretation to ensure consistency.Attends Labor Management Committee meetings.
Investigates and evaluates union grievances and complaints.Participates in union contract negotiations.Investigates and responds to employee complaints and concerns.Provides counsel and guidance to managers and employees on employee performance issues including corrective action. Ensure consistent and appropriate documentation occurs.Understands and complies with all existing laws, rules, regulations, case law, principles, & practices related to labor law, employee conduct, & government reporting requirements including EEO, ADA, FMLS, ERISA, OSHA & other applicable state & federal regulations.Assists with new hire employee orientation coordination and facilitation.Maintains employee electronic and paper files and performs audits for regulatory compliance.Completes required background verifications including but not limited to, DHS, criminal, and employment.Completes external verification of employment requests.Qualifications :
One-year Human Resources Generalist experience or two-years of progressive human resources experience required.Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, or related field, preferred.Multi-union experience in a health care environment preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.PHR or SPHR preferred.Ability to successfully function in an environment of multiple priorities and numerous interruptions.Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.The rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
