Job Type/Status: Full Time
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as resource to other consumers and family members on issues related to the effective management of mental illness in areas such as symptom reduction, relapse prevention, stress management, social skills, depression, anxiety and healthy relationships.
- Use their prior personal experiences with mental health services in a positive manner for clients/families
- Provide supportive companionship to clients.
- Actively listen to clients and family members.
- Support the concept/philosophy of wellness and recovery
- Attend group outings to foster socialization.
- Provide clients/family members with information about how to obtain information about behavioral health issues and services available.
- Help clients/families understand the behavioral health systems in New Jersey.
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Lived experience as a mental health consumer or family member of mental health consumer.
- Demonstration of positive decision-making skills personally and professionally
- Must have current Driver's License.
- Must have an excellent driving record with no violations in the past 3 years.
