Operating Room Nurse Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares patients for surgery and addresses their concerns
- Ensures the operating room is sterile
- Secures necessary supplies and instruments for surgery
- Hands over medical supplies to attending surgeons during operations
- Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum
- Observes patient vital signs
- Informs attending surgeon of issues and anomalies
Operating Room Nurse Job Requirements
- Current nursing license, in good standing with the state licensing board
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Familiar with patient safety standards and precautions
- Deep knowledge of surgical procedures
- Highly organized
