Position OverviewThis position coordinates and oversees the internal work of the Center for Community Outreach. In doing this, the Managing Director must ensure that the CCO’s budget is maintained and sufficient so that the needs of the programs and program coordinators can be met. This is achieved through outreach to donors, diligent record-keeping of donations, and regular communication with the Center for Service Learning and Student Senate Program Coordinators to maintain understanding of the status of funds. The Managing Director must also work closely with the Executive Director to ensure that internal programs, development, and publicity match the community needs while fulfilling the organization’s mission.Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt / salaried or non-exempt / hourly).Job DescriptionPeer Advising and Program Management – 65%Peer advise six CCO programs and Events and Development Directors. Programs will be divided up between the Executive and Managing Directors with insight from outgoing directors and CCO advisors.In Peer Advising meetings, monitor and ensure program turnover updates are completed in a timely fashion, and assign office hour tasks.Collaborate with Executive Director over the summer to plan Super Service Saturday.Attend CCO Executive Staff meetings.Encourage and facilitate collaborative events and programs between and within CCO programs.Meet bi-weekly with the Center for Service Learning to discuss internal management and CCO programming.Administer the volunteer.ku.edu website and ensure its use in tracking volunteerism. In addition, help coordinators and volunteers navigate volunteer.ku.edu.Work closely with Executive Director to ensure overall program health; meeting once a week to discuss current CCO needs.Organize the selection of the CCO Directors and Program Coordinators in collaboration with the Executive Director.Attend CCO Advisory Board meetings and report program and organizational updates.Act in accordance with Student Senate and CCO guidelines for the Managing Director, including Article X. Section 1. Student’s Assembly Speaking and Voting Rights and Article II. Section 5. Remuneration of the Student Senate constitution and Article IV. Section 2. Managing Director of the Center for Community Outreach bylaws.Finances – 30%Oversee and manage the financial health of the CCO. This includes applying for Block funding from Student Senate in the spring semester and managing and tracking the yearly budget.Carry out Purchase Order requests through active engagement with programs and communication with Student Senate Program Coordinators.Additional tasks and projects as determined throughout the term – 5%Required QualificationsEvidenced commitment to community outreach and service.Ability to lead and work with teams as evidenced in application material.Ability to work collaboratively with others as evidenced in application material.During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must : 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
