Why Work for CSI?

We’re betting that working for CSI will be the most enjoyable and fulfilling job you’ve ever had.

The Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI) is a Pacific Northwest-based nonprofit with a mission to catalyze state-of-the-art integrated infrastructure that helps communities of every kind thrive economically socially, and environmentally. We specialize in bringing people together to collaborate on clean, sustainable industry and infrastructure projects to benefit our communities, our local economies, and our planet together.

Working for CSI, you will help diverse Pacific Northwest (PNW) leaders and innovators bridge our political, geographic and cultural divides to learn from each other, explore breakthrough solutions, and spearhead showcase projects. You’ll help them work together to build a thriving, inclusive, sustainable future of broadly shared prosperity for all our people and communities.

CSI's Knowledge Exchange Program

Based in Olympia, CSI centers our work in the U.S. PNW. But we’re far from insular. The people of Oregon and Washington are energetic, creative, entrepreneurial and innovative - the kind of people that can forge a brighter future. By exchanging knowledge and building relationships with national and global innovators, we can help the PNW pioneer and demonstrate transformative solutions to today’s challenges.

CSI’s Knowledge Exchange Program organizes a variety of study tours and knowledge exchange events connecting industry, government and NGO leaders and innovators in the PNW with their peers who sit at the forefront of integrated infrastructure and clean industry innovation in other regions and nations. We support the sharing, adoption and scaling of sustainable solutions, with an emphasis on partnerships we’ve developed between the PNW and Denmark.

In 2025, we anticipate organizing…

  • Three week-long study tours in Denmark bringing leaders from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho to learn about Danish innovations
  • Several workshops in Washington and Oregon featuring international experts
  • A multi-day industrial symbiosis conference in November that will bring together our study tour alumni and other PNW innovators
  • Facilitation and organization for the International Industrial Symbiosis Alliance, an emerging network of symbiosis practitioners from Brazil, Mexico, Denmark, the US, and other countries.
