What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Summer Camp Director position at Center for the Creative Arts?
CCArts is seeking to add enthusiastic members to our dedicated team for the summer. An ideal candidate for the Assistant Camp Director position will be looking to gain experience in arts education and administration, they are actively engaged in the arts, and they are a curious self-starter who can work independently but also love being part of a small, but mighty, team.

- You have completed high school or equivalent and are looking for part-time seasonal employment and have previously worked or volunteered at a summer camp or school environment.
- You are an excellent and effective communicator who feels comfortable using all forms necessary to build community and disseminate information.
- You are passionate about the arts, working with young people, and maintaining an environment of safety and acceptance.
- You have excellent group management skills, patience, and approach meeting new people and challenges with curiosity.
- You are proficient in Microsoft office and Google suite and are willing to learn class registration software like ACTIVE.
- You are an organized, detail-oriented, creative problem solver that is able to balance a variety of weekly tasks and can self-manage to keep projects on schedule and meet critical organizational deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and manage before and/or aftercare, including ensuring that all children are safely engaged in activities, managing any problematic behaviors, and ensuring all campers are picked up by authorized persons.
- Supervise lunch and outdoor free time with campers, including but not limited to ensuring safety of all campers, creating and executing games and other activities.
- Ensure the auditorium is left clean and ready for the next activity including but not limited to the floor being swept and all tables being wiped down after lunch and all activities and materials being put away by the end of aftercare.
- Supervising and managing interns to ensure they are acting as good role models for the campers, having positive interactions with campers and each other, and ensuring they complete their assigned lunch and extended care tasks.
- Assist with camper check in and check out when possible.
- Restocking supplies in classrooms and aftercare as needed.
- Reporting any supply needs to the camp director in a timely fashion.
- Create weekly check in /check out sheets.
- Create weekly classroom rosters.
- Assist in resetting classrooms and gathering spaces as needed.
- Participate in intern & teacher training.
- Assist in preparing rooms and other spaces for summer camp.
- Act as support for students or teaching artists in classrooms as needed.
CCArts will be hiring two assistant camp directors for Summer Camp 2025. AM Assistant Camp Director’s work hours are 7:45am-1pm and the PM Assistant Camp Director’s work hours are 11am-5:45pm. Both roles are part-time, non-exempt, 100% on site positions. Employment is contingent on passing a background check.
