Intake Coordinator for the Department of Consumer Services

Job Description

Position Summary:

CIDNY seeks a highly effective Intake Coordinator for the Department of Consumer Services to assist in assigning new consumers to the department served by CIDNY. The Intake Coordinator must have at least three years of disability-related experience, supervision of personnel, a track record of conducting outreach activities, and a proven record of operating intake coordination for a social service agency. The Intake Coordinator will report to the Director of Consumer Services. The ideal candidate will be someone who can passionately support our mission of advancing the lives of people with disabilities. The Intake Coordinator must understand that consumers served by CIDNY must be responded to in a timely manner. The Intake Coordinator is a key member of our Consumer Services Programs team. This individual will be responsible for managing the initial contact with clients and coordinating the intake process. They are also responsible for conducting consumer satisfaction surveys and reporting the results of these surveys to CIDNY’s Contract Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Client Intake: Manage the initial intake of clients, including gathering information, assessing needs, and directing clients to appropriate services.

· Coordination: Coordinate with other departments and teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

· Supervision: Supervise a team of intake specialists to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

· Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and services provided.

· Training: Train new team members on intake procedures and protocols.

· Reporting: Prepare reports on intake activities and metrics for management review.

· Data: Must input data into CIDNY’s Cilsfirst database.

· Consumer Satisfaction Surveys: Track and complete consumer satisfaction surveys for all program clients.

· Meetings: Attend all required staff meetings and weekly supervision sessions required for direct reports and by your supervisor.

· Outreach Activities: Track and participate in outreach activities required by this department.

· Other duties as required to fulfill the needs of the mission of CIDNY and the position.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must possess a fierce dedication to the civil rights of individuals with disabilities. Must have excellent communication skills as there is frequent communication between state and local government officials, legislatures, advocacy groups, the community, and other organizations committed to full Civil Rights, Integration, and Individual Rights of individuals with disabilities. Superb writing skills are necessary for this reason as well. Great public speaking skills are critical. Must be organized and good at multitasking. A good understanding of policy-making procedures and can read and understand government writings. American Sign Language or Spanish a strong plus, but not required. Computer literacy is necessary for the office functions of this position. Some travel may be needed; CIDNY will pay all expenses. Cell phone and text pager knowledge are required.

Education and Experience:

  • Must possess a BA or BS degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, with at least three years of relative work experience, or AA degree with at least 5 years of relative work experience.
  • Prefer a master’s degree in a related social service field.
  • Multilingual preferred.
  • Must have comprehension or experience with disability-related issues.
  • Excellent advocacy, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Must possess the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be computer literate in basic Microsoft Programs and have the ability to learn new applications and database systems quickly.
  • Must be respectful and comfortable with people from different backgrounds.
  • The ability to travel is required.
  • The office operates on a hybrid schedule.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and directing a program team.

  • Must be highly attentive to detail, organized, and highly initiative taking, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete activities/projects in a timely manner, on or before scheduled deadlines, with minimal errors.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology.
  • The position requires a strong commitment to CIDNY's mission.

Position Specifics:

  • Location: CIDNY's Queens Office: 80-02 Kew Gardens Rd, Kew Gardens, NY 11415.
  • Salary: $70,000 annually.
  • Shift: (must be flexible) 9:30 am till 5:30 pm.
  • Monday – Friday.
  • Flexibility is needed as there may be outreach events held on the weekends.
  • Hybrid Schedule (Two days per week must be client-facing and one day per week conducting outreach activities in the community).
