What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outreach Coordinator position at Center For Urban Famlies?
THE ORGANIZATION
Purpose and Mission
Founded in 1999, and anchored in West Baltimore, CFUF strengthens urban communities by helping fathers and families achieve stability and economic success. As a pioneer in the responsible fatherhood, family strengthening, and workforce development fields, CFUF’s programs help clients fully exit poverty and sustain themselves and their families. CFUF serves Baltimore’s most marginalized populations living in high crime and high poverty communities. Our members (the term we use when referring to our clients) are 95% African American and 68% male. While many of them possess a strong work ethic, resourcefulness, ingenuity, and creativity, they also experience multiple barriers to self-sufficiency, including: 27% lack a diploma or equivalent; fewer than 6% have postsecondary education; 24% of women and 67% of men have a misdemeanor and/or felony conviction; 61% experience housing instability; 22% report clinically significant alcohol abuse; nearly 21% indicate moderate-to-severe depression; and the vast majority access income assistance.
Our ALL In strategy therefore focuses on enhancing members’ strengths, removing their barriers, and positioning them to become stable and economically successful. Launched in 2019, ALL In accelerates social and economic opportunity and advocates for policies that promote equity and racial justice. Leveraging 20 years of positive impact and applied learnings, ALL In targets chronic unemployment and family instability by linking individual accountability, person-centered case management, and supportive networks, with workforce development training, education, and civic engagement. ALL In dismantles poverty and builds long-term social and economic prosperity that results in brighter futures for members, their families, and the communities in which they live.
