The Center for Women and Families is looking for compassionate and skilled individuals driven by a desire to help others! The Program Services Specialist will play a critical role in enhancing social connections, survivor advocacy, and leadership skills for participants in the Empowerment Program (EP).
The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of trauma by reducing risk factors and building resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.
The Program Services Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Empowerment Program (EP) by developing, coordinating, and facilitating initiatives that support survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. This position collaorates with internal staff, senior leadership, and community partners to create a continuum of care that fosters social connection and leadership development.

Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and Enhance Empowerment Program Activities:
- Research and implement integrated approaches to strengthen social connection, survivor advocacy, and leadership skills.
- Identify and establish partnerships with community organizations to enhance program initiatives.
- Develop and promote activities tailored to Empowerment Program participants.
- Collaborate with direct care staff to create referral procedures for program enrollment.
- Work with senior leadership to evaluate and improve program outcomes and data collection processes.
Facilitate and Coordinate Empowerment Program Activities:
- Co-lead and coordinate the Survivor Advisory Council.
- Work with staff and volunteers to support program activities.
- Facilitate internal, external, and virtual presentations and workshops at The Center and partner locations.
- Strategize with external affairs to increase program visibility and impact.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency and funder guidelines.
- Comply with state reporting requirements for abuse and neglect.
- Utilize secure and approved technology to ensure confidentiality.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
- Foster relationships with community coalitions, committees, and workgroups.
- Communicate referral processes and program services to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with leadership to increase community engagement.
Training and Development:
- Participate in shadowing, professional development, and coaching opportunities.
- Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Stay current on job-related research and best practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide supportive counseling, advocacy, and resources as needed.
- Engage in team and agency meetings and provide orientation to staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Participate in grant compliance and program development activities.
Qualifications
- Vocational/Technical/Business School or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years in program development or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Office 365 and other basic technology tools.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency automobile insurance standards.
- Commitment to completing 16 hours of continuing education annually, with 6 hours specific to sexual assault.
