About the Job:
Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS, is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Director of Youth Ministries. Location:
This position is based in-person at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, with the expectation of working weekends and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging youth programs that encourage spiritual growth and leadership development.
- Build trust-based relationships with youth and families, fostering connections that create belonging and engagement in the ministry.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to effectively lead within the youth ministry.
- Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to organize outreach programs that connect youth with the community.
- Provide pastoral care and support to youth and their families, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with youth in a church or ministry setting is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in education, social work, or coaching will also be considered.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, candidates without a degree may be considered based on relevant experience and skills.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth and families. Must be compassionate, energetic, adaptable, organized, and a good listener.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Demonstrated experience in youth ministry, children’s ministry, or similar fields, with familiarity in working with middle school and high school students.
- Knowledge of United Methodist beliefs or similar denominations (Wesleyan, Nazarene, Lutheran) is a plus.
- Experience in developing outreach programs and training volunteers is highly valued.
