Provide leadership and manage materials management department for CNP enterprise. Direct or coordinate, material ordering, implement and monitor inventory strategy activities and inventory health metrics to improve accuracy, meet capital deployment goals, achieve cost savings, and customer service & safety standards. Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure goods are ordered, maintained, and delivered to the right place at the right time within established CNP safety guidelines. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and procedures for activities relating to streamlining and simplifying the Materials Management organization with contractors, suppliers, employees, and stakeholders.
- Oversee material planning process, create monthly deliverable and analysis, scheduling, outside supplier performance, and delivery status of orders.
- Collaborate with Demand Planning team to help establish material purchasing plans that support the inventory strategy, as well as working with stakeholders to align their expectations for Vendor Managed Inventory minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Ensure execution of material orders in accordance with overall purchasing, inventory, and commodity strategies, supplier agreements, and policy requirements. Provide input in the supplier agreements to ensure alignment with business processes and objectives.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality of delivery and reliability. Evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality of delivery and reliability, holding suppliers accountable when under-performing and escalating to executive management when appropriate.
- Keep informed of all new developments relative to materials and supplies and make recommendations designed to reduce risk and improve certainty of delivery.
- Review operating reports, identify and direct the resolution of inefficiencies/shortfalls or other problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Establish, monitor, and maintain productivity and quality standards, develops budget and cost controls, and focus on continuous improvement within Supply Chain but specifically within Materials Management
- Track key performance metrics relating to supply chain planning including but not limited to, lead time, vendor performance, monitors planned vs. actual performance. Hold management and employees accountable for performance metrics.
- Support the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) through various activities including but not limited to own assigned role, team member roles and setting up, directing, maintaining, and providing a support for personnel, material, and equipment to Operational team or at EOP Staging Sites.
- Champion and institute continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend various stakeholder meetings e.g., engineering, operations, standards, accounting as well as supplier meetings pertaining to materials, construction timelines, job-planning and inventory on hand amounts.
- Conducts various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, and transfers of management level personnel.
- Provides training, guidance, direction, and developmental opportunities to support staff development.
- Oversee regularly scheduled SOX audit testing/reporting as required.
- Ensures employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations (OSHA, DOT, Homeland Security, etc.) including audits as required.
- Monitors activities of work teams to ensure safe practices are in place and being followed at all times. Give guidance on safety and security issues, and interface with corporate on all issues.
- Participate on various teams (e.g., Integrated Supply, Emergency Operating Plan, Slow Moving Material, Inventory Optimization, Best Practice, and other teams).
- Bachelor's degree required in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or other related disciplines.
- Requires a minimum of ten (10) years' experience with progressive experience and responsibilities.
- Three (3) years of experience leading a team of direct reports required.
