Summary/Objective
The Vice President – Controller position leads and directs Centersquare’s global accounting activities. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining all systems, procedures, and policies that enable accurate, timely, and scalable processes for general accounting, technical accounting, transactional activities, and financial reporting. This individual will lead a diverse team of professionals, provide overall leadership, and chart a roadmap for continuous improvement across systems and processes.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with the CAO and CFO to build out a high performing corporate accounting and financial reporting function.
- Oversee and continuously improve company-wide financial close processes; maintain ultimate ownership for all G/L activity, consolidations, and reconciliations.
- Manage all aspects of financial reporting and the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external parties.
- Lead, mentor, staff, and manage a ~15-person organization spanning all core accounting areas
- Lead all external audit engagements, serving as the key point of contact between Centersquare and its audit partners.
- Ensure the timely and accurate accounting treatment of all transactions and reporting under U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
- Oversee all technical accounting, including research and creation of accounting policies, memos, and procedures.
- Establish a clear, achievable technology roadmap to make accounting activities more scalable, timelier, and more accurate – drive the organization to operational excellence.
- Collaborate effectively with Finance to develop and/or support annual budgets, forecast updates, and monthly variance analyses.
- Instill a positive team culture with a continuous improvement mindset and build strong cross-functional relationships across Centersquare.
- Provide direction and assistance to organizational units regarding accounting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.

Competencies
- Established track record of operating in complex accounting, financial, and regulatory environments and a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS and key principles of application for a wide array of accounting/finance areas (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, IFRS 16, etc.)
- Versatility across strategic and tactical - strong business/operational process-oriented acumen and management skills, combined with the ability to keep several initiatives in process simultaneously.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, M-F, weekend and late hours as needed to meet deadlines.
Travel
Minimal to no travel required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field with 4 years of public accounting.
- 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience with a mix of public accounting and industry.
- CPA required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Previous experience in private equity backed companies a plus.
- SAP experience a plus.
