What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Generalist - LGH Ground Transport/Full Time Days position at Centra Medical Group?
This position is responsible for receiving and activating request from multiple sources for ground and helicopter transportation. Receives Medicaid transportation request and obtains authorization. Communicates operational questions to Shift Lead, Supervisor, Nursing Supervisor and/or Flow Coordinator as they arise.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Certified Ambulance Coder within 6 weeks of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Dispatching or scheduling experience
Pre-hospital or hospital experience
Medical Terminology
Previous Experience in Transport billing or insurance authorization process
- Receives ambulance shuttle and helicopter request via phone, Cerner EMR, or Fax and inputs call information
- Prioritizes incoming calls according to unit staffing and availability.
- Triage patients to determine level of care needed for transport and priority.
- Determines response mode and level of care required based on policies and procedures.
- Dispatches calls and maintains communication with staff.
- Dispatches Ambassador Services
- Arranges transport for Skilled Nursing Facilities and Hospice
- Obtains and arranges Medicaid Transportation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
