Corporate Director of Integrated Professional Staff Services

The Corporate Director of Integrated Professional Staff Services is responsible for aligning initiatives of the Centra Centralized Verification Office and the Medical Staff Service Offices & Clinical Outcomes Office with organizational goals and objectives, and developing, implementing and monitoring standards, procedures and processes to meet or exceed established indicators, goals and desired operational efficiency across the system. Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and accrediting agency standards and regulations that affect quality and performance improvement for clinical outcomes within Medical Staff purview. Provides oversight and leadership in supporting all physician and advanced practice providers in their governance responsibilities at Coordinates and actively oversees delegated payor contracts and surveys to ensure compliance. Directs process improvement activities to address performance gaps and develop efficiencies with the Onboarding, Credentialing and Privileging processes for all providers within the Centra system. Builds collaborative relationships among team members, nursing, ancillary departments, administration, and medical staff.


Required Education: Bachelors Degree in a health care related discipline or Business or Communication
Preferred Education: Masters Degree or in program in a health care related discipline preferred
Required Experience: At least five years of experience in a medical staff office or Centralized Verification Office.
Preferred Experience: Previous credentialing management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Required Certification & Licensures: Current Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) with the National Association of Medical Staff Services or ability to obtain with 12 months. Current Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) with the National Association Medical Staff Services or ability to obtain within 24 months.


Directs daily operations across the system for all Centra Medical Staff Services Offices, Clinical Outcomes Office and the Centra Centralized Verification Office.
Manages development of department and divisional goals, budget, and metrics and targets.
Manages the development of both departmental and divisional succession plans to ensure all caregivers are given the ability for educational opportunities and upward mobility within the organization if sought.
Regularly communicates with management and staff regarding project status, issues and process redesign. Assists in the communication and training of Centra staff as it relates to patient safety and quality outcomes. Responds to all customers in a courteous, sensitive and respectful manner.
Effectively uses conflict resolution skills, performance management techniques, and communication skills to resolve problems and promote teamwork.
Stays current with industry and regulatory trends by subscribing to listservs, reading newsletters, and magazine articles, and reviewing information posted on the internet. Actively participates in activities with Virginia Association Medical Staff Services (VAMSS) and the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) and other external organizations as appropriate
Evaluates work process/design; ensures quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery meets stakeholder needs.


Medical Staff Services
Works with an interdisciplinary team to ensure physician concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion
Oversees and assists in planning activities of each facilities Medical Staff Committees and provides direction to personnel preparing/maintaining schedules.
Supports and assists each facility Medical Staff, Centra Specialty Hospital and Centra Medical Group organizational leader in their responsibilities pertaining to credentialing, appointment and privileging responsibilities

Key liaison to clinical department administrators, department heads and other personnel regarding the clinical faculty employment, credentialing processes and development of Delineation of Privileges Forms to ensure that all privileging is criteria-based

Researches and develops policies, procedures & criteria in conformance with the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules & Regulations, TJC, CMS, NCQA, VDH standards and guidelines
Supports the utilization of integrated software to assist with Privileging and maintaining unassigned call rosters throughout all Centra facilities
Assists in the planning and execution of Medical Staff Leadership educational opportunities
Assists in the planning and executive of networking opportunities with the Lynchburg Academy of Medicine (LAM)

Centralized Verification Office
Supports the utilization of integrated software to assist with provider credentialing for Medical Staff and Delegated Payer agreements throughout all Centra facilities, Centra Specialty Hospital, CMG and health plans
Works with cross functional teams within the system to ensure the application and reapplication processes are efficient, compliant and are easy to navigate by providers
Ensures programs and processes are in compliance with TJC, CMS, NCQA, VDH, legal and all regulatory and accrediting body standards. Interprets, explains and educates providers and others in the organization on regulatory guidelines, including credentialing processes and policies
Supports and assists with overseeing the Centra Centralized Credentials Committee.


Outcomes
Oversee activities that utilize cross-functional teams to identify, measure, analyze and improve core processes to support the organizations objectives for quality, patient safety and efficiency
Ensures that the necessary data collection and analysis is performed for Radiology misreads and potential Radiology cases
Ensures that the necessary data collection and analysis is performed for FPPE, OPPE and Peer Review processes
Analyzes trends in clinical outcomes and patient safety and ensures that performance improvement activities are coordinated and supported to address findings
Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and TJC standards and regulations affecting quality, patient safety, and performance improvement
Applies change management skills to influence formal and informal networks within Centra in support of quality and patient safety outcomes
Ensures that internal and external research, investigation and analysis is conducted and information is presented in a concise and actionable format
