OPERATOR FEED NIGHT SHIFT

Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this role is to provide to accurately manufacture and inspect bulk feed to meet customer specifications. The Feed Mill Operator will have an active role in operations, service, safety, and maintenance while maintaining a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of the cooperative.

Essential Functions: (The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following)

· Assist in the efficient operation of the mill and warehouse.

· Provide accurate custom feed grinding and mixing services according to customer ration specifications.

· Assist with local mix schedule and prepare both local and custom mixes to specification to assure optimal feed consistency and quality.

· Samples ingredient, local mix, and customer mixes and retains them for analysis per requirements.

· Accurately records each mix or service provided (job, sales, or transfer tickets) to ensure accurate inventory.

· Follow all SOP documentation of good feed manufacturing practices with an emphasis on drug and micro ingredient record keeping.

· Receive, store, and maintain inventory levels and advise manager on inventory replacement needs.

· Unload bulk and bagged ingredients.

· Inspect all feeds as they are being loaded and unloaded.

· Prepare and file department record.

· Verify accuracy of all work orders or sales tickets as they are loaded and/or unloaded.

· Follow all closing procedures.

· Maintain preventative maintenance on equipment to avoid breakdowns and actively recommend maintenance to manager or maintenance personnel.

· Provides prompt and courteous customer service to include answering phones during business hours.

· Assist customers with unloading and loading trucks.

· Report issues or complaints to management and works with department manager on resolutions.

· Actively works to increase personal skills and knowledge.

· Feed mill and production areas are to be kept clean and orderly

· Each shift clean and maintain the grinding and mixing rooms,

· Each shift clean and sweep production areas, drug room and driveways

· Each shift checks to ensure dust collector is functioning properly.

· Maintain and inspect the mill, warehouse equipment, and facilities regularly and report maintenance needs or improvement suggestions to management.

· Provide backup for other feed mill staff as needed.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

· High school graduate or GED equivalent

· 1 yr. related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating ability to do the job

· Demonstrated ability to skillfully operate milling equipment

· Strong team player with excellent communication skills, to include verbal, written

· Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with staff, customers, and other business partners

· Ability to pro-actively identify areas for improvement and suggests plans for change

· Commitment to excellence and high standards of providing outstanding customer service and problem solving

· Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment

· Resourceful, self-starter with works well with minimal supervision

· Excellent organizational skills including detail oriented, multi-tasking, planning, and prioritizing to meet deadlines.

· Results-oriented, accurate, and thorough with a commitment to accountability

· Understands and actively works with basic math concepts

· Strong computer skills and ability to learn key operational computer programs

· Must comply with current driver qualification requirements and our Drug and Alcohol Policy

Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior experience in a feed mill environment

Routine use of a computer and cell phone. Frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing are required. Vision abilities required include close, distance and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are required. Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying of items weighing up to 50-55 lbs. are required.

Working at this facility entails continuous exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, airborne particles, extreme weather conditions and temperatures, heavy equipment and noise levels, and other attributes common to such sites. This role has regular exposure to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which will require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
