DAYS: 260 Calendar Days HOURS: 8.0 Hour Day

BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide secretarial assistance to high school principal. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the assigned building.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manage day-to-day secretarial office activities.
2. Function as receptionist for visitors.
3. Coordinate weekly bulletin and calendar and distribute.
4. Handle the daily intercom message to student body and faculty.
5. Maintain office machines.
6. Answer telephones.
7. Assist teachers with day-to-day operations.
8. Supervise clerical staff. Coordinate clerical work schedules.
9. Record teacher substitutes each day. Give Assistance with daily activities, etc. Coordinate coverage of classroom in the event of substitute shortage or teacher leaving the classroom due to emergency.
10. Compile statistics, reports, and inventories.
11. Arrange student busing—communicate schedules to students—distribute bus stickers, passes, etc.
12. Prepare and read twice-daily announcements on the intercom.
13. Prepare Parent Newsletter.
14. Organize Report Card mailing.
15. Prepare staff handbook policies and procedures.

- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. High School Diploma, HiSET or GED.
2. Five years secretarial and/or administrative assistant experience.
Desired:
1. Associate’s Degree in Office Management or related field.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Highly skilled in PC applications and software.
2. Ability to work independently or as part of a team to achieve assigned tasks.
3. Demonstrate interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
