Therapeutic Mentor
Supervisor: Child & Adolescent Division Director
The individual must maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record, carry Personal Automobile Liability coverage ($20,000 - $40,000), and complete Therapeutic Mentoring training which will be provided through the Department of Mental Health.
Primary Job Functions and Performance Expectations
In this role, you will make a meaningful impact by providing support to clients and families, helping them improve age-appropriate social functioning affected by behavioral health conditions. Your work will empower clients to build essential skills and navigate social environments with confidence.
Client Support & Engagement
- Guide and assist clients in social settings, helping them develop new skills and progress toward treatment goals.
- Provide coaching and training to build essential life, social, and communication skills.
- Connect clients with recreational and social activities that support their growth.
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities to encourage treatment participation and skill-building.
- Meet with clients and families face-to-face in the office, home, or community settings.
- Ensure timely initial contact with clients within one week of referral.
- Maintain ongoing coordination with the client’s treatment team at least once per week.
- Actively participate in treatment and service planning meetings.
- Complete all required documentation within one working day of clinical activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Center policies and DMH Standards.
- Meet quarterly goals for billable services.
Professional Growth & Collaboration
- Engage in regular supervision meetings for guidance and professional development.
- Participate in professional workshops, in-service training, and Quality Assurance reviews to enhance your skills.
- Utilize team consultation to improve client care and service delivery.
Teamwork & Communication
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely information to support personnel.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete other duties as assigned by your supervisor with professionalism and attention to confidentiality.
- Actively contribute to at least two Consultation and Education activities per year.
