What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enrollment Advisor position at Central Arizona College?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide holistic, proactive advising services to prospective, new, returning and transfer students in determining educational plans, choosing courses and exploring programs and career options, in person, online or via telephone.
- Assist in planning and implementing academic advising processes, procedures and activities leading to student success.
- Evaluate credit completion and transfer credits for degree requirements.
- Review and explain placement options for college courses.
- Identify current or potential needs or problem areas for students (i.e., study skills, tutoring).
- Refer students to appropriate College or community resources.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive student tracking and notes within College ERP system, Microsoft Teams and other software.
- Coordinates, plans, develops, and collaborates on projects, workshops, and activities within the advising department.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
Perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position to include student development, student retention and student engagement as related to degree/certificate completion.EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education, Counseling, Guidance, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) years of related experience including post-secondary Student Services experience in Advising, Career Services, Counseling, and Student Support Service Programs (TRIO/Upward Bound); and experience may also include student guidance in a secondary school setting or case management/counseling skills.
SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS: Travel throughout the District using own transportation is required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
Background Verification: As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification. Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification. The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.

- Knowledge of student development theory and its application to the variety of students attending community college in both vocational and university transfer programs.
- Knowledge of current best practices related to academic/career advising and higher education policies and procedures (particularly with regard to community colleges).
- Knowledge of various theories and strategies used for student retention, persistence, and completion.
- Knowledge of academic/career advising processes, student records maintenance, and student information systems.
- Knowledge of modern office technology and website development software including Microsoft Office Suite and the proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in interacting with students, instructors, College officials, the public and College community.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks according to plans and deadlines in a highly visible and high-volume environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as a pivotal team member of Student Services.
- Ability to work with a wide range of individuals.

This is a pension system that requires mandatory contributions from the employee with a matching contribution from the employer. The 24-25 fiscal year contribution rate is 12.27%.
