Job Summary
Provide technology support and tutoring to students in ESL/Adult Basic Education (ABE). Respond to requests for information from students and provide training to staff and students on the use of systems and/or equipment. Develop, coordinate, and present workshops for areas assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide technology support for ESL/ABE students either in the form of one-on-one or small group tutoring virtually or in a designated CAC facility. Coordinate schedules to be available and responsive to ABE Faculty and student needs, including prior to class start.
- Monitor and assess student progress; analyze student data; recommend changes to ensure student success; and communicate regularly with ABE Faculty and/or program staff regarding student performance.
- Collaborate with ABE Program staff, recommending innovative strategies and technology use as it relates to ESL/ABE student services. Assist the Director with strategic planning and budgeting.
- Initiate contact with ABE students as appropriate and respond in a timely manner to requests for information and/or assistance from students. Provide training to students and staff on the use of ESL/ABE educational technology programs and/or equipment.
- Operate a variety of computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications in support of the ABE Program. Set up, prepare, demonstrate, and troubleshoot equipment. Prepare requests for ordering materials and supplies used in related instructional activities, receive and prepare materials for use and prepare necessary paperwork according to established guidelines. Coordinate equipment maintenance/repair and software installation with the IT Department as needed.
- Perform other duties commensurate with the function and level of the position to include participation on college committees, and the recruitment and retention of students.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate degree and one (1) year of applicable experience – or – three (3) years of applicable experience in lieu of education.
SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS: Must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
Background Verification: As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification. Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification. The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge and skill in supporting end user’s understanding of PC’s, laptops, common software and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, MS Office Suite (including; Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of learning and /or tutoring students and staff.
- Ability to process and analyze information accurately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and oversight and as a member of a team in accomplishing tasks.
- Knowledge of the methods and practices in report preparation.
- Knowledge of techniques and methodologies of student assessment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with staff, community leaders, faculty, students, and the public. Skill working in a diverse multi-ethnic, multi-cultural population.
