Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification. The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.

JOB SUMMARY: Perform the full-range of clerical duties in support of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of clerical duties in support of the Financial Aid Office. Duties include answering phones, correspondence, report preparation, processing a variety of documents, opening and distributing office mail as appropriate. Handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously and make decisions independently according to established guidelines.
- Process applications, contracts, student records and/or forms by verifying information for completeness, entering data into computer system, securing appropriate signatures, forwarding to other departments and/or agencies for processing, notifying students and/or employees of their status in the process of requesting additional information according to established policies and procedures.
- Provide information and services to students on all aspects of eligibility and the availability of financial aid. Collaborate with other CAC offices to provide financial aid guidance to students. Be knowledgeable about CAC policies and procedures to help troubleshoot and accurately triage a student, community member, employee, or faculty member with a problem.
- Collect, review and record receipt of documents needed for verification process. Receive incoming telephone calls and email for financial aid regarding required documents for verification, award, and appeal status.
- Retrieve, receive, and compile data from several sources, compare information to verify its completeness and prepare informational and/or statistical reports detailing requisite data according to established guidelines. Organize and transmit information electronically to other agencies and/or departments for processing.
- Respond to questions from callers and walk-ins; remotely assist students, staff, and faculty with basic financial aid questions, warm transfer to Financial Aid Assistants when need requires a higher level of support.
- Confer with the supervisor to discuss work processes, plans, actions to be taken and appropriate work assignments/schedules for office, provide information, and receive instruction and guidance.
- Provide information and/or training in policies and procedures of the department. Work to resolve problem situations using independent judgment and decision making according to established guidelines and procedures
- May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position to include the recruitment and retention of students.

- Knowledge of using personal computer and a variety of equipment associated with a general office environment
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of learning and/or teaching students and staff
- Knowledge of student information systems/databases such as Blackboard
- Ability to process and analyze information accurately; detail oriented; strong creative ability
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and oversight
- Ability to learn with rapid proficiency on all current proprietary software
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public
- Ability to quickly learn and employ customer service techniques for prompt resolution and de-escalation of upset customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
