What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Assistant Teacher (Part-Time) position at Central Assembly of God?
The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Assistant Teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Assistant Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Teachers and the Director.
Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Teacher, assist in the implementation of daily activities and encourage participation by children.
- Actively engage in routine tasks such as maintaining cleanliness of the space, managing order and availability of classroom materials, etc.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transitions between home and daycare center.
- Coordinate daily activities and supervise Aides in the absence of the Teacher.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
Minimum Requirements: (must have at least one of the following)
- High school diploma or equivalent and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 600 or more hours of related secondary training.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field along with 1 year of experience with children.
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience with children.
All candidates must be willing to undergo and be able to pass all required background checks and clearances as outlined by Pennsylvania and the Department of Human Services.
