Overview:
The Assistant Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants and toddlers. This position involves creating and implementing engaging activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in young children. The teacher will work closely with families to support their children's growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
1*. Create a Safe Learning Environment:*
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
2*. Develop and Implement Curriculum:*
- Plan and execute age-appropriate activities that stimulate learning and exploration.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods including play-based learning, sensory activities, and music.
- Regularly assess and modify the curriculum to meet the individual needs of each child.
3*. Foster Social and Emotional Development:*
- Support children in developing social skills, self-regulation, and emotional intelligence.
- Encourage positive interactions and relationships among children.
- Provide comfort and support during separation anxiety or challenging moments.
4. Engage with Families:
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss their child's development and any concerns.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and participate in family engagement activities.
5. Observe and Assess Development:
- Conduct regular observations and assessments of each child's development.
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and communicate findings with parents and staff.
- Use assessment data to tailor educational strategies to meet individual needs.
6. Collaborate with Team:
- Work collaboratively with co-teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Share insights and strategies with colleagues to enhance the overall program.
7. Promote Health and Well-being:
- Implement and supervise daily routines including feeding, diapering, and nap times.
- Teach and model healthy habits and hygiene practices.
- Address any health concerns and communicate with parents regarding any issues.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (CPR, First Aid), Clearances
Experience:
- Previous experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices for early childhood education.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require standing for long periods, lifting children, and engaging in physical activities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.50 - $14.50 per hour
