Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi-making techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and maintaining a clean kitchen environment. You must be willing to understand and incorporate Korean-style cooking techniques through kitchen to match Korean BBQ elements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including proper sanitation of tools and workstations.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management for restocking.
- Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques related to sushi preparation.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
- Learn or be familiar with Korean cooking techniques and foods
Skills
- Proficient in food preparation techniques, particularly in sushi-making and knife skills.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations within the culinary industry.
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment with a focus on quality meal preparation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when needed.
- Excellent attention to detail with a passion for culinary arts, particularly Japanese cuisine.
- Ability to manage time effectively to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
