Job Overview
We are seeking a punctual, organized, professional, poised, creative, and problem-solving Veterinary Receptionist to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations of our veterinary clinic. Your passion for animals and strong communication skills will help create a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. We love to help our team members grow in their career, and this position would certainly come with this option if the candidate desires.
Schedule
We are looking for a full-time or part-time candidate. We are open Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm and shifts are scheduled from open to close. Part-time candidates must be able to work at least two of the days in the week listed. Full-time team members work 4 days per week of the Monday-Friday shifts.
All team members additionally work every other Saturday from 8 am - 12:30 pm.
Shifts are scheduled 2 months in advanced with the intention to keep similar schedules to allow all team members predictability for their personal lives. We are very passionate about providing our team with a strong work-life balance.
Duties
- Greet clients and their pets warmly as they arrive and exit the clinic.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care with the ability to problem solve as solutions are needed.
- Maintain accurate and grammatically correct patient records and client communications, including medical history and treatment plans, email, and text messaging.
- Process payments and handle medical collections in a professional manner.
- Assist veterinarians with basic animal handling during examinations or treatments.
- Educate clients on proper pet care, vaccination schedules, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Skills
Ideal candidates will possess a combination of essential skills that enhance their ability to perform effectively in this role:
- Proficient in veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities to manage appropriate and professional client education.
- Ability to safely work closely with dogs, cats, and small farm animals (goats, sheep, horses).
- Understanding of pet care practices to provide accurate information to clients.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet regularly as this is an active role.
- Passion to learn and ability to readily implement new strategies and technology.
