What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025-25 Speech & Language Pathologist position at Central Building?
I. NATURE OF POSITION:
- The Speech and Language Pathologist shall help reduce or eliminate speech/language, communication and hearing disorders that interfere with the individual student’s ability to derive full benefit from the district’s educational program.
- The Speech and Language Pathologist shall work with the Special Education and, through her/him with the principals and teacher in program planning and scheduling.
- The Speech and Language Pathologist shall work with the various coordinators and service personnel in furnishing programs and services to each student.
- The Speech and Language Pathologist shall function in an instructive staff capacity when providing services and assistance to principals.
II. TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of programs for oral communication skills.
- Provide therapeutic and/or consultive programming to meet individual needs of speech, language, and hearing handicapped children.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified students with communication disorders.
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, language, voice, hearing, and fluency disorders.
- Assist in appropriate referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.
- Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
- Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to school staff members on topics concerning communication processes.
- Maintain current records of students receiving therapy.
- Maintain lists of screenings and referrals as well as a director of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
- Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
- Perform other duties and related activities as may be assigned.
- Assist in interpreting the district’s speech/language program to parents and community.
- Prepare medicaid billing forms
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
- Supervise students, classroom aides, and volunteers.
III. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: -MA or MS
- C.C.C. certification by the American Speech and Hearing Associations or currently completing the Clinical Fellowship Year (C.F.Y.) for ASHA certification.
- Currently licensed by the Montana Board of Speech Pathologists and Audiologists.
- Be committed to the total district school program.
- Be willing to assume responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development.
Salary : $75,000
