Melbourne Central Catholic is seeking a Head Coach for our Swim team. The position often involves coordinating, training, supervising, or managing the activities of others to accomplish goals and requires advanced communication and organizational skills, attention to detail and working well with others. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, co-workers, and supervisors, via face-to-face discussions, telephone communications, and electronic mail is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinates and supervises all practices, competitions, and other team events.
- Knows and follows the rules of the Florida High School Athletic Association and guides the program within the mission, philosophy, and goals of Melbourne Central Catholic High School.
- Communicates appropriately and respectfully with parents, teachers, and school stakeholders, and escalates issues as necessary in collaboration with the Vice Principal of Athletics.
- Communicates in a timely manner with the Vice Principal of Athletics regarding student athlete eligibility and works collaboratively to ensure only eligible student athletes participate in team events.
- Maintains a record of all team participants, contest records, and award winners.
- Creates practice and contest schedules and coordinates facilities and transportation needs appropriately and in a timely manner in collaboration with the Vice Principal of Athletics.
- Tracks team budget in collaboration with the Vice Principal of Athletics, and maintains team needs and expenses within that budget.
- Supervises the proper and respectful use and storage of team equipment, and collaborates with the Vice Principal of Athletics about any equipment needs and/or concerns
- Keeps accurate records of all team inventories.
- Collaborates with the Vice Principal of Athletics and communications team to release important team-related news.
- Collaborates with the Vice Principal of Athletics to handle any problems regarding coaches, players, or the athletic program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice Principal of Athletics.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Compliance with Diocesan FBI fingerprint clearance and compliance with Safe Environment training and test requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of the sport at the competition level.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and the management of large groups of students/athletes
- Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques in the sport
- Demonstrates successful ability to teach, implement, advance, and model appropriate behavior, character traits, educational values, and school and Diocesan core values to student athletes
- Demonstrates successful ability to teach, organize, and supervise student athletes
- Demonstrates successful management and organizational skills
- Demonstrates successful ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff, and students
- Ability to organize multiple athletic events
- Ability to communicate effectively, appropriately, and professionally in writing, speech, and other forms of communication
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds. Physical demands include balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, talking, and walking.
