SUMMARY
Central Catholic High School (“CCHS” or “School”) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Computer Science teaching professional to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching computer science, guiding students in developing foundational and advanced skills in computing, programming, and technology innovation. This position focuses on delivering engaging instruction in two courses: Advanced Placement (“AP”) Computer Science Principles and Problem Solving with Programming, while also covering broader computing concepts and emerging technology topics. The teacher will play a key role in preparing students for academic and professional success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Teach AP Computer Science Principles and Problem Solving with Programming courses, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and the Advanced Placement program requirements.
● Define goals and expectations of each class, plan and deliver engaging lessons on a range of technology topics, including but not limited to programming fundamentals, web development, networking, cybersecurity, robotics, and emerging technologies.
● Develop and implement curricula that integrate the latest technological tools and resources, including Python, Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Swift.
● Demonstrate capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected and utilized. Foster a classroom environment that emphasizes collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
● Design and conduct assessments to evaluate student progress, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and enhancing student outcomes.
● Provide individualized support and mentorship to students, encouraging their interest and success in computer science.
● Guide students in hands-on projects, competitions, or extracurricular technology-related clubs.
● Collaborate with other educators and departments to integrate technology into broader academic offerings and foster interdisciplinary learning experiences.
● Stay up-to-date with technological trends and educational practices, incorporating new tools, programming languages, and emerging technologies into the curriculum.
● Promote digital citizenship and ethical technology use within and beyond the classroom.
● Other duties as assigned that are consistent with the forgoing responsibilities and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
● Relevant teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.
● Strong commitment to the mission of the School and incorporating such mission in the classroom.
● Understands and is supportive of the Marist philosophy as well as CCHS policies & procedures.
● Demonstrates expertise in coding languages, including Python, Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Swift.
● Experience teaching AP Computer Science Principles or equivalent courses is preferred.
● Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, software development, and networking concepts.
● Familiarity with cloud technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or virtual/augmented reality.
● Ability to integrate project-based learning and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
● Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic and high level of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity. Able to exercise sound judgment and resolve problems quickly and independently.
● Strong skills in diplomacy, tact and/or discretion; maintain appropriate boundaries with students and be able to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
● Possess strong interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication, with the ability to interact with a wide range of audiences, including administrators, faculty, staff, students and families.
● Enjoys working with a culturally diverse population and fosters an inclusive, engaging, and innovative learning environment.
● Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
PREFERRED SKILLS
● Experience with educational technology platforms such as Canvas, Google Classroom, or other Learning Management Systems.
● Proficiency in guiding students through collaborative projects and hands-on technology applications.
● A self-starter, possesses a willingness to assist others, is able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, work as part of a team and lead technology-related extracurricular activities.
