What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2-3 year old afternoon teacher position at Central Christian Church?
This lead teacher will work alongside another teacher to create a fun, exciting, and hands-on learning experience for our 2s & 3s Preschool classroom. This teacher will help manage the day to day operational activities of the classroom. He or she must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. This teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide any teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. The position reports to the assistant director and director. Some specific job duties include:
- Managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom
- Coordinating and implementing curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Maintaining frequent communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences (upon request).
- Ensuring all center policies and state regulations are met.
- Ensuring a positive and healthy classroom environment
Requirements of this position are:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Have completed high school or its equivalent, as determined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction.
- Have at least 240 hours of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a group child care center, as a licensed family child care provider, or in another approved early childhood setting.
- 4 credits in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent.
- Physically, mentally, and emotionally able to provide responsible care for all children, including children with disabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/Child First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must clear full background and fingerprint check and must pass health screening.
- Wisconsin Early Childhood Registry Membership or it's equivalent
