FTE: 1.0 (8 hours per day)

Location: Central Early Learning Center 

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Kids Place Preschool is an extended day preschool program for working families.  Kids Place Preschool operates as a part of St. Louis Park Public Schools Community Education in the Central Early Learning Community Center; a state of the art building designed for our youngest children and families.  Kids Place serves children 33 months to 5 years.  The mission of St. Louis Park Public Schools sees, inspires, and empowers each learner to live their brilliance in an environment that centers student voice and experience to create racially equitable learning that energizes the spirit of community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement curriculums using best practices based on the needs and abilities of the children.
  • Use a variety of assessments to inform instruction.
  • Creates culturally relevant lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, interesting and reflect the children.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions and use family and community resources to support learning.
  • Works in a supportive manner and collaborates with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development.
  • Adhere to the St. Louis Park Public Schools mission, vision, and core values and work to support and achieve those goals.
  • Adhere to the code of Ethics of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of child development.
  • Knowledge of the ECIPS, Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.
  • Experience in teaching in a child centered, developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology.
  • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with children, families, teaching team, staff, administrators, and the community.

EDUCATIONand/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Prefer a Child Development Certificate, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • One (1) year of related experience
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
