Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daycare director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children of various ages. This role requires a strong understanding of childhood development and the ability to manage behavior effectively, lead a team well in a Christ centered facility, while engaging children in age-appropriate activities.
Duties
- Work in coordination with church pastoral staff and leadership teams.
- Bring up, train, and oversee daycare staff.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times.
- Plan and implement educational activities that promote cognitive, emotional, faith, and social development.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment conducive to learning and play.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
- Assist with special education needs as required, adapting activities to meet individual children's needs.
- Maintain accurate records of children's activities, attendance, and developmental milestones.
- Manage and maintain requirements for subsidy programs and food programs.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles.
- Develop and or work from Christian faith-based lesson plans.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Experience in caregiving or babysitting roles.
- Proficiency in first aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and staff.
- Creative problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience in administration with a High School diploma/GED)
- Experience working with children in a daycare or preschool setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles
- Ability to lead a team
- Ability to manage a classroom and implement behavior management strategies
- Ability to coordinate and cooperate with other leads and teams
- Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus
