Job Description:
">The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA is seeking a motivated and experienced Fishing Program Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading fun and engaging fishing programs for campers in a seasonal day camp setting.
">Teach campers the fundamentals of fishing, including casting, knot tying, and species identification.
Supervise and lead fishing activities while ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
Maintain fishing equipment and ensure proper use by participants.
Create lesson plans and activities that are fun, educational, and age-appropriate.
Foster positive relationships with campers and act as a role model for teamwork, patience, and environmental stewardship.
Support the overall camp experience by assisting with other activities as needed.
Requirements:
">Knowledge of fishing techniques, safety, and conservation principles.
Experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to foster a love of fishing and the outdoors in youth.
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
Physical ability to participate in outdoor activities for extended periods.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for up to 8 hours per day.
Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working near water and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
