Fishing Specialist
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fishing Specialist to lead our seasonal day camp fishing programs.
Job Summary:
As a Fishing Specialist, you will inspire a love for nature and conservation in children while teaching them basic fishing techniques, water safety, and respect for the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach campers the fundamentals of fishing, including casting, knot tying, and species identification.
- Supervise and lead fishing activities while ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
- Maintain fishing equipment and ensure proper use by participants.
- Create lesson plans and activities that are fun, educational, and age-appropriate.
- Foster positive relationships with campers and act as a role model for teamwork, patience, and environmental stewardship.
- Support the overall camp experience by assisting with other activities as needed.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of fishing techniques, safety, and conservation principles.
- Experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a love of fishing and the outdoors in youth.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
- Physical ability to participate in outdoor activities for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for up to 8 hours per day.
- Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working near water and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
