About International Student and Scholar Services at the Center for International Education
The International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office provides essential immigration and cultural adjustment advising to international students and scholars, helping them integrate into their new environment at Central and in the United States. Additionally, ISSS serves as a home away from home for all international students and scholars.
Position Profile
International Faculty Advisor position will serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (“ARO”) under the direction of the Principal Designated School Official (“PDSO”) and/or Responsible Officer (“RO”), in the performance of an array of Federal immigration tasks including use and maintenance of records in SEVIS as well as the University’s ISSM database; completion of Federal immigration forms and certifications and other reporting requirements; compliance with all United States Citizenship and Immigration Services laws, regulations as well as policies and procedures. The successful incumbent will be the University’s H-1B liaison and adviser and processes all H-1B petitions for the University’s non-immigrant resident faculty, and facilitates the Employment Based Employment green card application. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to administering compliance and special projects with federal mandates regarding international students and scholars on matters of immigration services with emphasis on J-1 and H-1 B visa international faculty which includes inbound Fulbright scholars; developing systems for providing and tracking documentation relative to H-1 B and Exchange Visitors which would include Fulbright scholars and students on United States Department of State’s DS-2019 and creating, reviewing, and processing paperwork for initial and continued attendance of DS-2019s for J-1 Exchange Visitors and maintaining records in SEVIS for all J-1 Exchange Visitors.

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education:
All candidates must possess Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience and Training:
- Three (3) years of professional experience in the administration, advising, operations, programs and/or faculty service delivery within in a college, or University’s ISSS program.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of H-1 and J-1 regulations and experience working with SEVIS.
- Knowledge of other visa types as well as immigration related services.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience living or studying abroad preferred.
- Current J-1 Program Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) designation
Certifications and successful completion of training programs may be required prior to or during appointment. Current Alternate Responsible Officer designation a plus.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The International Faculty Advisor position is compensated at the Administrator III salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
