Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time International Student Services Advisor position within the International Student and Scholar Services Office at the Center for International Education. We are seeking applicants who are passionate about international education and have a thorough understanding of immigration rules and regulations. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the cultural adjustments that international students and scholars experience when transitioning to Central and the United States. We are searching for applicant that will be enthusiastic about creating a welcoming and engaging environment for international students.

About International Student and Scholar Services at the Center for International Education
The International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office provides essential immigration and cultural adjustment advising to international students and scholars, helping them integrate into their new environment at Central and in the United States. Additionally, ISSS serves as a home away from home for all international students and scholars.
Position Profile
The International Student Services Advisor Serves as the Designated School Official (“DSO”) an Alternate Responsible Officer (“ARO”) under the direction of the Principal Designated School Official (“PDSO”) and/or Responsible Officer (“RO”), in the performance of an array of Federal immigration tasks including use and maintenance of records in SEVIS as well as the University’s ISSM database; completion of
Federal immigration forms and certifications and other reporting requirements; compliance with all United States Citizenship and Immigration Services laws, regulations as well as policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities include but not limited to are Conveys and/or prepares information for international students, faculty, and staff as well as visiting faculty and prospective international students and employment applicants regarding the University’s ISSS services as well as other resources and opportunities, including employment and other types of visas and Performs a range of tasks in records management including compliance, resolving routine issues that arise, audit, data entry, organization, maintenance, and reporting; resolves data discrepancies and data integrity issues and escalates complex issues.

Education
All applicants must possess bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience and Training:
- Three (3) years of professional experience in the administration, advising operations, programs and/or student service delivery within in a high school, college, or University’s ISSS program.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of F-1 and J-1 visas, experience working with SEVIS and knowledge of other visas as well as immigration related services.
Ideal
- Experience living or studying abroad.
- Current F-1 Designated School Official (DSO) designation
- Current J-1 Program Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) designation
Credentials and/or experience comparable to the above may also be considered.
NOTE:
Professional experience does not include student worker or student intern experience at the undergraduate level. Experience as a Graduate Assistant or Graduate Intern in a University or College International Education setting or its equivalent shall serve as relevant experience and training and be prorated appropriately.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Incumbent in this position must qualify for and maintain designation as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) as defined and amended by the United States Department of State, United States Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, respectively.
Additionally, incumbent in this position must obtain and maintain authorization to access and use the Student and Exchange Visitor Information system (SEVIS).
Must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The International Student Services Advisor position is compensated at the Administrator III salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
