       Location of Work: Southeast Alaska

      Salary Grade(s): 12-14

      Hours of Work: M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Employment Category: Regular, Full-Time



      PURPOSE

      Under general direction of the Tidal Network Director, the Construction Manager is responsible for successful completion of construction projects. Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the overall administration and implementation of the Tidal Network construction projects. Incumbent will participate in all conceptual development of construction projects and work closely with Architects, Electrical engineers, Mechanical engineers, Civil engineers, customers, and other departments of the Tribe.

      Reports To: Tidal Network Director Supervises: Construction personnel Liaison To: All Departments


      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

      • During pre-construction phase, attend all design meetings, constantly evaluate the materials and products suggested for constructability and Oversee preparation of estimates for conceptual, schematics, and design development stages
      • Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines
      • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites
      • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliances with building and safety codes, and other regulations
      • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients representing the owner or developer
      • Obtain all necessary permits
      • Direct and supervise team members in the office and on construction site
      • Develop or direct the development of operating and working procedures and standards aligned with organization objectives
      • oversee subcontractors
      • Requisition supplies to complete the project
      • Prepare and submit budget estimates, job progression, and cost tracking reports
      • Develop and implement quality control programs
      • Take action to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at the construction site
      • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
      • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems
      • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to insure, that proper procedures are being carried out
      • Evaluate construction means and methods to determine cost-effectiveness of plans
      • Other duties as assigned

      NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

      • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of project management
      • Understands current construction technology and trends, including project management, communications, and computer software
      • Familiar with data processing systems
      • Facilitate resolution in difficult and controversial situations
      • Ability to relate aspects and/or parts of a project to the overall circumstances and needs of the organization
      • Communicate professionally and effectively in verbal and written forms; establish cooperative working relationships
      • Ability to operate independently and resolve complex problems
      • Analyze and appraise facts and precedents in making management decisions
      • Set goals, monitor progress, and adjust resources to accomplish objectives
      • Coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints
      • Meet project deadlines and deliverables with a high degree of independence
      • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

       

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

      • Associates Degree in Related field: project management or business administration
      • Five years of professional experience managing projects and/or programs, including management of at least one construction project with multiple entities
      • Substantial knowledge of all construction phases

       

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

      • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in related field


      UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS

      Work time will be split between office setting and construction sites. Time may be spent at a desk and walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing up to 75 lbs. Work may be done in inclement weather.

      Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
