The Y is looking for a skilled Ropes Course Specialist to lead and facilitate exciting high- and low-ropes activities for campers in a seasonal day camp setting. You’ll create safe, fun, and engaging programs that encourage teamwork, personal growth, and self-confidence in youth.
As part of our camp team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering impactful experiences while promoting a positive atmosphere that reflects the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate ropes course activities, ensuring safety and fun for all participants.
- Conduct equipment checks, monitor participants, and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of campers.
- Build nurturing relationships with campers and foster a sense of teamwork and growth.
- Model the Y’s core values and maintain a positive, supportive environment.
- Certification in ropes course facilitation or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in ropes course instruction or facilitation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and a passion for working with youth.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
- Physical ability to climb, balance, and work safely at heights.
- Must participate in outdoor activities for up to 8 hours per day.
- Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Work in a moderate to high noise environment.
- Comfortable working at heights as part of ropes course facilitation.
