Position: Fiber Technician
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Superintendent
Level: Pay Grade 6-Non Union-Hourly

Summary of Position
The purpose of this position is to coordinate service for fiber to the home (FTTH).
FTTH technicians will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of cabling in private and commercial environments. This includes installation, termination, and testing of low voltage/network cables and fiber optic cables.
Preferred Credentials
- CERTIFIED FIBER OPTICS TECHNICIAN (CFOT)
- CERTIFIED FIBER OPTICS SPECIALIST IN TESTING AND MAINTENANCE (CFOS/T)
- CERTIFIED FIBER OPTICS SPLICING SPECIALIST (CFOS/S)
Essential Duties
Outstanding customer service skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Must have a friendly and upbeat demeanor.
Inspect, install, disconnect, reconnect, add, change, and troubleshoot fiber optic internet in accordance with guidelines.
Efficiently run fiber optic lines from Electric / Telephone pole to private houses.
Ensure service operates within prescribed parameters by performing testing on company issued devices and customer devices.
Attempt to identify and remedy sources of customer-perceived issues.
Communicate with customers prior and during drop installation.
Greet and interact with customers including when responding to escalations and repeated customer concerns.
Review all requested services with the customer to ensure understanding and agreement.
Educate the customer regarding product and service usage.
Drive a company vehicle between office, warehouse, and work sites.
Work in attics and underneath homes on a regular basis.
Clean, maintain, and stock vehicle and equipment to be prepared to perform required duties.
Effectively and accurately record daily production on job site maps and with management.
Complete paperwork accurately and report and record work order status updates.
Acquire necessary materials and inventory from warehouse for each job site.
Ability to lift and operate necessary materials to include small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
Performs other duties as assigned and as needed according to schedule.
Working Conditions
The work is performed inside and outside and could be in extreme weather conditions.
Regular work hours with some overtime required to work extended or flexible hours during weather-related outages or other emergencies, such as a hurricane. Includes holidays.
Participate in the duty roster.
Ability to work with various technical systems.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
