ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), together with the supporting CICP Foundation, was formed in 1999 to bring together the chief executives of Central Indiana’s prominent corporations, foundations and universities in a strategic and collaborative effort dedicated to the region’s continued prosperity and growth. CICP’s mission is to transform the economy of Indiana in order to create a sustainable prosperity and quality of life for our citizens and future generations. 
 
To advance this mission, CICP sponsors five key talent and industry sector initiatives, Agrinovus Indiana, Ascend Indiana, BioCrossroads, Conexus Indiana and TechPoint, each of which addresses challenges and opportunities unique to its respective area: agbiosciences, talent and workforce development, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and logistics and technology. CICP also sponsors strategic initiatives AnaltyixIN and Business Equity for Indy. In addition to its branded and strategic initiatives, CICP has spearheaded a number of strategic projects that are advancing the growth of Indiana’s economy and successfully incubated and launched the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, the Battery Innovation Center and 16 Tech Community Corporation.
 
JOB OVERVIEW:
The VP of Finance will oversee the planning, development, organization, implementation, direction, and evaluation of the organization's financial function and performance.  Reporting to President & CFO, the VP of Finance plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization, while aligning financial strategies with our mission, objectives and values.
 
The VP of Finance must enjoy managing a hard-working team and have experience working in a fast-paced and complex environment and working with financial systems and managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting). This position provides strategic advice for the organization’s executive and senior leaders to support short- and long-term business objectives, establishing and implementing policies and practices to ensure operational effectiveness and fiscal responsibility, while upholding the regulatory and compliance standards at a state and federal levels. To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will demonstrate the technical skills required for the role while being a great people manager and leader.  
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Financial Operations Leadership and Oversight
  • Develop credibility for the finance team by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist CEO, President and CFO and the branded initiatives, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance at the direction of the President and CFO.
  • Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization's financial data processing, control, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
  • Continual improvement of the budgeting process with the Director of Accounting on financial issues impacting the organization’s budgets.
  • Lead on the implementation of strategic priorities pertaining to finance.
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance team. Evaluate the financial team structure and plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
  • Engage other members of the team to facilitate cross department collaboration that ensures that all financial, IT, HR and administrative solutions positively support CICP’s goals.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance reviews, and administer salary adjustments.
  • Act as liaison, problem solver and facilitator. Improve upon existing approaches by seeking opportunities to creatively transform current practices into alternative solutions.
Grants and Funding Contracts Management
  • Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to ensure financial sustainability through grant applications, donor relations, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Monitor financial compliance with grant terms.
  • Assist branded initiative CEOs program directors and/or managers with the preparation of budgets for funding applications.
Risk and Compliance Management
  • Oversees the organization’s financial operations and required compliance activities, including annual financial statement audits and tax return filings.
  • Identify and manage financial risks, implement policies and procedures to safeguard assets, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, consulting with external auditors to ensure the regular audits are conducted. Training and development and performance management.
  • Oversee the preparation of all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary to ensure accuracy of audited financial statements.
  • Approve all final drafts of the audit, 990 informational, for-profit tax and foreign tax withholding returns and budgets prior to submission.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in emerging accounting standards, government guidelines, and relevant tax laws and trends, communicating and participating in implementation of necessary changes, as appropriate.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall financial operation and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Along with the VP of Operations, maintain internal controls and participate in process improvement efforts to strengthen the organization's compliance and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor the reliability of control systems.
  • Identify elements of financial risk.
Other duties and special projects as assigned by the President and CFO.
 
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred. CPA, CFA, CMA or relevant professional certification is required
  • At least seven to ten years of financial experience in progressively responsible leadership positions
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing finance teams
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
  • Proficient in communicating and interacting with various stakeholders from different backgrounds and perspectives
  • Experience in working with non-profit organizations and 501(c)3 / 501(c)6 structures and requirements preferred
  • Superior planning, organizational, project management, time management and record-keeping skills with attention to and memory for details
  • Proven levels of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency, community service and results-orientation
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, interpersonal skills, and good judgment
  • Experience coaching managing and developing people
  • Adaptable to change
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Ability to be flexible and function well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, including ability to be proactive to growth and change
  • Ability to use independent judgement and good discretion/ decision making skills
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
  • Extensive experience with MS Office suite
