Security Teacher
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Monitoring school grounds, controlling access to the building, assisting in emergency situations, and collaborating with school personnel to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Responding to incidents, enforcing school policies and regulations, and providing support during drills or crises.
- Follows building procedures during emergencies or disasters and ensures they are executed effectively.
- Notifies building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
- Monitors and assists students during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to ensure a smooth transition.
- Ensures students move efficiently through the hallways and arrive on time to class or assigned locations.
- Assists with student supervision during breakfast and lunch periods.
- Incident management and reporting involves assisting disruptive students by removing them from the classroom and escorting them to the appropriate supervisor or administrator
- Notifying appropriate personnel when evidence of substance abuse, abuse, neglect, severe medical, social conditions, and potential suicide.
- Promoting student responsibility involves modeling positive behavior, maintaining professionalism, ensuring confidentiality, and encouraging students to follow safety protocols.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community, while showing integrity and initiative.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Security, Building Principal, or other appropriate building/district administrators.
Essential Duties:
- Communicates responsibly with students, colleagues, and school leadership;
- Accounts for the whereabouts of students, staff, and visitors
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Valid Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) License is required.
- AED/CPR Certification is preferred but must be willing to obtain upon employment.
- Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in a security-related field.
- NJ Criminal History;
- Work authorization in the U.S.;
- Tuberculosis Test;
- Experience is a plus.
