The General Manager position is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations within the dealership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales management, inventory control, and customer service and have at least 10 years experience in Automotive Sales.
*Responsibilities*
- Directs and oversees the daily operations of the Dealership.
- Hires/fires, trains, coaches/counsels and monitors performance of department managers, holding weekly department meetings.
- Collaborates with Department Managers to plan and implement objectives for achieving sales and gross profits, setting specific and measureable goals.
- Inspires and maintains a customer-focused, team oriented environment.
- Uses appropriate coaching methods to move others to action and to strengthen performance and skills in areas needed.
- Sets high standards of performance for self and Department Managers, assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and/or goals.
- Completes weekly “Check-In” with employees and takes appropriate notes for follow up, employee development, and documentation of performance.
- Leads by example, ensuring that Team Members adhere to policies and procedures and complete required training.
- Collaborates with Internet Manager to develop an advertising and marketing plan.
- Strives to meet or exceed factory standards for customer satisfaction (CSI,SSI).
- Communicates and collaborates with Senior Leadership Team members and demonstrates capability at management team meetings by presenting data and/or ideas in a manner that builds confidence in the products, services, or ideas.
- Coordinates the appropriate supply of new and used vehicles and ordering/acquiring vehicle inventory as necessary.
- Creates annual dealership sales forecasts by estimating total vehicle sales, gross and operating profits as well as expenses.
- Resolves customer complaints and/or concerns and by offering fair and consistent solutions, while following company policies and procedures.
- Works hours scheduled, and maintains flexibility as situations arise.
- Stays informed of industry trends, all manufacturer programs, and rebates in order to ensure Sales Managers are trained appropriately.
- Participates in professional training opportunities through in house, factory training seminars, and weekly in store meetings.
- Works effectively with others by valuing and practicing teamwork at all times and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
- Maintains a safe work environment and follows all policies and procedures.
