Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director plays a key role in developing and executing strategic fundraising and engagement initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Director, this position supports core Annual Giving programs, including Direct Mail, Giving Events, Online Giving, Student Impact Stories, and Donor Analysis, using Blackbaud tools. The Associate Director is responsible for designing and implementing strategies that increase alumni engagement, build donor affinity, grow annual financial support, and strengthen the overall fundraising pipeline.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of professional experience in annual giving, development, fundraising, alumni relations, or a related field such as sales, marketing, public relations, or operations, preferably within a higher education or nonprofit organization.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with students, alumni, and community members from diverse backgrounds in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Strong organizational, time management, and collaboration skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in fundamental fundraising principles and a broad understanding of annual giving objectives.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of the role of philanthropy in higher education.
Experience with platforms such as ThankView or Crowdfunding tools.
Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
Familiarity with Blackbaud NXT or similar donor database system(s).
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and manages multi-channel, multi-touch direct mail campaigns, overseeing the production, scheduling, and performance tracking.
Submits data pulls and analyzes direct mail results using Blackbaud NXT and Fundraiser Performance Management, providing insight to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
Creates and implements fundraising initiatives to broaden the university’s donor base and identify new donor pipelines.
Collaborate with Stewardship using the ThankView platform.
Collaborates with the Director of Annual Giving to design and execute Giving Days and Giving Week strategies.
Creates online giving forms utilizing the in-house CRM system.
Produces and distributes reports for leadership to monitor key performance indicators and overall program effectiveness.
Leads and manages the Annual University Campaign for faculty, staff, and retirees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
