Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc. We are looking for a Medical Interpreter to provide accurate interpretation of medical information in direct service to providers or others who are caring and providing services to non-English speaking patients. You will be an integral member to our team, committed to bettering the lives of our patients and community.
Responsibilities for a Medical Interpreter include but are not limited to:
- Precisely and accurately interprets critical medical advice and information given by the provider and other healthcare personnel into equivalent terminology in appropriate language, including during telemed visits.
- Works among all departments to interpret for patients in appropriate language.
- Assists with patient follow-up as necessary, to include contacting patients with appointment reminders in appropriate language (including other services provided).
- Assist with nurse triage calls for non-English speaking clients in appropriate language as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff through approve mechanism to alert of availability to interpret.
- Works with management and other staff in production of health education materials, patient forms, brochures, etc., to ensure such materials are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with community outreach in appropriate language if needed.
- Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, healthcare providers, and clinical staff.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics while interpreting sensitive medical information.
Knowledge Experience/Education/Training:
- High school diploma/ GED required. Some college preferred.
- Successfully passing CNAHSI's medical interpretation exam with a score of 80% or higher.
- Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in customer service, office work, or a clinical setting.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical office or similar setting.
- 1 year of front office experience including Electronic Medical Records preferred.
- Ability to work with diverse populations from various economical backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a dedicated team. Ability to work in a fast paced Health care environment with a variety of customer service needs.
- Accurate and appropriate interpretation skills at all times.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
