Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the district’s talent development program. Ensure that the development and delivery of training programs for administrators, teachers, professionals, support staff, and auxiliary staff is effective and efficient, incorporates district goals, and supports student achievement.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in education, human resources, organizational development, public administration, or closely related field
Valid Texas teaching certificate
T-TESS certification required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrate skills in instructional coaching, mentoring, facilitating, and training
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Knowledge of professional development programs and adult learning strategies
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Ability to lead adult learners for increased efficiency and effectiveness
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Demonstrated skill in project planning and implementation of training programs
Strong organizational, written and oral communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret data and develop an action plan
Comfortable with working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness
Strong desire to continue professional learning
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching in a K-12 Texas public school
Campus administrative experience required
Five years of experience developing and delivering training programs to adult learners preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Professional Development and Program Management
- Oversee the development and delivery of professional development programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement. Develop a long-range plan of professional development to further the district vision.
- Establish a culture of ongoing instructional improvement.
- Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives. Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate professional development programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals, instructional coaches and content coordinators, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
- Secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources to deliver training programs.
- Ensure availability of time, resources, materials, and technology to support accomplishment of education goals.
- Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, and community members.
- Develop and administer the professional development budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
- Develop and implement a mentoring program for beginning teachers and employees new to NISD and to the profession.
- Develop monitoring documents and systems for increased efficiency and consistent communication within the department.
- Evaluate annually the district’s mentoring program for effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources to support new and beginning teachers.
Policy, Reports, and Law
- Facilitate development of district and campus reports related to progress on professional development courses of study.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Personnel Management
- Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in the professional development department.
- Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
- Select, train, evaluate, and supervise staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of professional development and other assigned staff

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
