About Central Oregon Villages:
The mission of Central Oregon Villages is to work as a community to safely shelter and empower our neighbors on their path to stable housing. Founded in 2021, Central Oregon Villages currently operates two emergency housing sites in Bend: a village of 20 units and a safe parking site with two units. We have one additional six unit site in development and another four - six unit site planned. Our two-year plan includes consolidation to a larger site.
Our participants have chosen to live sober and drug-free and have committed to regular goal-setting and check-in meetings with their case manager.
About the role:
Our Director of Operations will manage our staff of two Case Managers, one Street Outreach & Permanent Housing Case Navigator and one Bilingual Community Support Assistant, and oversee all operational aspects of our sites.
Essential Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility for any staff member is the safety and security of the participants, staff, volunteers, staff, and the surrounding neighbors while providing emergency shelter;
- Ensure adherence to procedures in bringing participants into shelter;
- Assist with participant engagement with services;
- Consistent emphasis on proper handling of confidential case files;
- Maintain safe and operable shelter units and common spaces;
- Inspire staff and participants to be mission focused;
- Assist in participant transitions by providing support, guidance, and direction;
- Assist with intakes and maintenance of client records;
- Lead regular staff meetings and program meetings;
- Maintain consistency agency-wide by following existing policies and procedures and creating new guidance as needed;
- Meet with Executive Director regularly to review needed supports;
- Provide coverage and assistance for team members;
- Foster and maintain partnerships with area service providers;
Staff Support:
- Make applicable training opportunities available to staff;
- Provide needed technology supports;
- Encourage self-care;
- Model healthy boundaries;
- Maintain strong established professional partnerships with outside agencies in order to coordinate referrals specific to areas supporting ongoing housing stability
Facility Services:
- Direct maintenance staff as needed for repairs and preventative maintenance;
- Ensure needed supplies are on site;
- Assist with participant exits ensuring programmatic duties are completed including bedding is stripped and all belongings are stored accordingly;
- Contact emergency/law enforcement, if needed, for issues during shift and communicate with management team regarding these issues;
- Team attitude in maintaining a clean, clutter-free environment;
About You:
- Degree in social services, public health, human development OR in business management, administration, or related field;
- Professional experience managing/directing a social services program or professional team for at least 3 years;
- Experience working with persons living with low-income and/or living unhoused;
- High proficiency with Google Workspace and ability to learn HMIS (our area’s Homeless Management Information System);
- Working knowledge of area service agencies for partnership and referral on a participant’s behalf;
- Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment, to maintain a high level of confidentiality, to respond effectively to emergency and crisis situations and resolve problems;
- Set and models high standards of honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior;
- Adaptable and flexible;
- Demonstrates effective and professional written and interpersonal communication skills;
- Able to pass a criminal background check;
Position Reporting and Compensation:
- This role reports to the Executive Director
- 0.75FTE (30 hours weekly), exempt
- On-site(s), Bend, OR
- Compensation:
- $57,400 yearly salary
- $75 cell phone allowance for personal phone usage (Google Voice number)
