Position: Activity/Recreation Leader
Central Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, a short-term Rehab and long-term Skilled Nursing Facility in Syracuse, NY is looking for a Full-Time Activity/Recreation Leader to work in our Recreational Therapy Department under the supervision of the Activities Director.
Duties:
- Responsible for development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of activities and transportation of the residents within the facility.
- Leading activity/recreation programs that meet the individual needs and interests of the residents is extremely important. This includes: community outings, arts and crafts, musical, religious, entertainment, social functions, cultural interests, health and wellness, support groups, and other events that enhance our residents physical, social, spiritual and psychological well-being.
- Must work closely with other departments and staff to implement activities that meet the various physical and cognitive functioning needs of our residents.
- Must be willing to motivate our residents to attend and participate in activities including large group events, small group programs, and individual programs.
- Maintain proper documentation and follow HIPAA regulations.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Two-year degree in activities, recreation therapy or humanities, or another related degree relevant to the geriatric population.
- Experience in a long-term care facility, assisted living, senior center or working with the elderly/senior population is preferred.
- Ability to work the flexible work hours to meet the needs of our program.
- Must be highly motivated, self starter and have the ability to motivate and connect with our residents.
- Computer skills, creative thinking and desire to better the life of those around you is required.
