Job Description
The Summer Social Services Coordinator for Schools will provide consultation and in-service training to school personnel, assist students with adapting to various aspects of the school environment, serve as a liaison between the home and the school, and facilitate the effective utilization of existing community resources to meet the needs of school children.
The ideal candidate will have valid and appropriate Illinois licensure, a school social worker endorsement, and prior school experience. They will be responsible for providing parental education and counseling as appropriate in relation to the child's problem, keeping informed of new developments in the field of school social work, and participating in case conferences when referred students are involved or as requested.
The successful applicant will participate in staffing and Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504 conferences as relates to their direct client, consult with teachers and parents as appropriate to assist them in addressing the expectations for social decision making, behavioral, mental health, and academic goals based on SEL standards, and facilitate a comprehensive continuum of support that promotes healthy positive youth development using the social emotional learning standards.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with collecting and analyzing data regarding program participant outcomes, continuing to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, organizing and maintaining a system for accurate and complete record-keeping regarding the services delivered, and coordinating with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess the social and emotional curriculum.
