The Central South Carpenters Regional Council (CSCRC) is a non-partisan organization that represents 10,000 members in 21 local unions (15 construction and 6 industrial) within Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas who are committed to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters’ (UBC) goal of reaching 70% market share through organizing and other strategies. We negotiate and enforce complex agreements that ensure good working conditions, fair wages, and secure health-care and retirement benefits.


Job Description:

The Regional Council is seeking a dynamic marketing/communications professional to help tell the stories of our labor union and grow our organization. Part of the communications/marketing director’s role is to share the benefits of union membership – competitive wages, free training, excellent retirement and health-care plans – and the advantages for employers of using a highly skilled, safe, and productive union workforce. We need a communications expert to oversee all marketing, public relations, and internal/external communications efforts, ensuring consistent and effective messaging that aligns with our organizational goals and branding.


To succeed in this position, you must be a self-starter who demonstrates good judgment, effective problem-solving and multitasking skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position will be based at council headquarters in the New Orleans area, and some travel throughout the five-state district will be required. 

 

Core Job Duties: 

  • Develop and implement communications/marketing strategies to help grow and retain our membership and increase our marketshare in the industries in which our members work.
  • Track and analyze the performance of marketing efforts and campaigns.
  • Oversee brand management, ensuring consistency across marketing materials and channels.
  • Develop, lead and manage a marketing team.
  • Create or provide instruction, guidance, and editing support for team members who create digital and print content, including social media posts, email newsletters and campaigns, website updates, photos, videos, advertisements, recruitment materials, press releases, and more.
  • Serve as liaison with printers and other vendors, placing orders for printed materials such as brochures and banners and for promotional items.
  • Build a media list and foster relationships with journalists at media outlets in our region.
  • Ensure effective internal communications to keep staff informed, engaged, and on the same page.
  • Plan, promote, and cover events.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, with three years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of overseeing or executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to travel. 
  • Familiarity with graphic design and content creation/management tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Wordpress) preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Passion for helping improve the lives and working conditions of tradespeople.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
