And what will you do?
Summary:
The Drafter 2 position is directly responsible for creating metal building drawings and material parts lists for Self-Storage and Pre-Engineered Metal Building projects.
Core Functions:
- Draws and details complex self-storage projects, or pre-engineered metal buildings using AutoCAD, MBS, TEKLA, or other computer aided drafting technology.
- Interprets construction drawings, contracts, and specifications as well as verbal instructions.
- Provides sales with the necessary building design details to meet customer requests.
- Able to meet multiple project deadlines while providing accurate project deliverables.
- Provides accurate redlined revisions to drawings and material parts lists.
- Able to learn and use other software for miscellaneous projects (ex: plant engineering, marketing, product design, or installation guides)
- Participate in pr-schedule process with sales team and management team.
- Interacts with internal and external customers to clarify project scope, details, and product limitations.
- Communicate with internal customers regarding requests for project information, status, and schedule.
- Administration functions such as plotting, binding, and mailing drawings as required.
- Apply necessary coordination for outsourced detailing projects (assemble, send, check, finalize) for pre-engineered metal buildings.

- Ability to successfully produce drawings and accurate material parts lists to support the sales and installation of our metal building products.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or comparable design software.
- Ability to perform communication and tracking reports on Microsoft office or other ERP system work.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills and display exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work within a cooperative team environment as well as perform assignments autonomously.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:
- Two-year degree in a related field, with certification in AutoCAD, or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
- 2-4 years’ experience with AutoCAD, MBS, or TEKLA software is preferred.
- Previous experience with the metal building industry with experience in bills of materials and installation drawings.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is performed in a shared office space. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies (up to 35 lbs) as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. While performing the core function of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and stand.
