POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proper animal restraint.
  • Assist Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Assist in taking radiographs.
  • Prepare surgical suite before surgical procedures and clean/restock after.
  • Clean, wrap, and sterilize instruments, surgical packs, gowns, and drapes.
  • Knowledge of names and locations of all instruments and equipment used in surgery.
  • Scrub in and assist in surgeries as needed.
  • Bathe animals.
  • Perform nail trims.
  • Feed and walk patients as needed.
  • Patient vital signs.
  • Perform suture and staple removal.
  • Prepare prescriptions as ordered by the doctor.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas.
  • Perform kennel duties, inventory, and restocking as required.
  • Consistent, on-time arrival and attendance each day you are scheduled to work.
  • Always be in position and prepared to work at the start of each shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary experience is required.
  • Basic customer service skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Overtime, On-Call, and Saturdays may be required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time. Required to lift up to forty (40) pounds. Employees will be expected to request assistance with lifting or carrying animals or materials over 40 pounds.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Radiation exposure (x-ray, CT Scan).
  • Possible exposure to gas sterilization using ethylene oxide.
  • Hazards associated with infected animals, controlled substances, and possible exposure to contagious diseases.
  • Exposures to unpleasant odors and noises.
  • Exposure to aggressive patients, bites, scratches, and animal wastes.
